About the Noyce Scholarship Program
The National Science Foundation's Robert Noyce Scholarship Program, a collaboration between KU's School of Education (SoE) and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS), responds to the critical need for K-12 teachers of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) by encouraging talented STEM students and STEM professionals to pursue teaching careers in the State of Kansas and nation. Specifically, the Noyce Scholarship Program provides support for:
- undergraduates majoring in mathematics or science who have been admitted to the SoE teacher education program and plan to complete two degrees (CLAS and SoE),
- undergraduates majoring in mathematics or science who plan to complete their CLAS degree and the UKanTeach program; and
- STEM professionals holding a bachelor's or higher degree in mathematics or science who desire to become teachers and have been accepted as graduate students in the SOE's graduate licensure program
Each undergraduate student will receive a scholarship of $10,000 per year for two years (maximum $20,000), assuming satisfactory academic progress. Graduate students will receive a one-year stipend of $10,000. Following completion of the undergraduate or graduate requirements, Noyce Scholarship and Stipend Recipients must teach mathematics and/or science for two years in a district with at least one high-need school for each year of support received. The teaching requirement MUST be completed within six years of graduation.
Applications are accepted continuously and awards are made based upon meeting eligibility requirements and contingent upon availability of funding.
